Breastfeeding and Lactation Support
Breastfeeding can sometimes be incredibly challenging, particularly in the early weeks whilst mum and baby learn how to breastfeed.
Sometimes mums stop breastfeeding before they really want to due to the problems they are experiencing. With the correct support these issues can often be overcome, allowing mum and baby to continue their breastfeeding relationship for as long as they both wish to.
Breastfeeding for some mums can involve expressing and feeding through alternative methods. This can be very successful for some relationships, and we are here to support you succeed however breastfeeding looks for you.
Why should I see an IBCLC?
Breastfeeding East Sussex is run by an IBCLC (the highest internationally recognised breastfeeding qualification). An IBCLC has a great deal of experience in supporting mums and babies who are breastfeeding. They have had an extensive education in human lactation and have also sat a very challenging exam. They are bound by a Professional Code of Conduct to uphold the principles of the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners. To find out more about the role of an IBCLC please click here.
